WatchGuard Home Alarm System - Series 2 - Armng Issue

Postby mahazara » Sat Jul 24, 2010 10:28 pm

Hi

I have a watchguard home alarm system 2.
I have 1 Detector in my Garage & 1 In my Living room of the house. Recently to check the alarm functionality, i armed the alarm & then opened the garage door so the alarm went off. Then i presses button 2 on the remote to disarm the alarm.

Since then i am having the following issue.
Everytime i arm the alarm it gives 1 beep then the siren on the main alarm unit flashes for couple of seconds & then the red light keeps flashing, but after arming the alarm if i open the garage door or walk in the living room, the alarm doest go off.
Then if i dearm the alarm it gives me two beeps. with no other beep.

according to the manual that means all the batteries in all the detectors are fine.

I am not sure what is going on...
What should i do ? is there a technical support contact number that i can call for this? Has anyone experienced the same issue or knows the solution to fix this?

thanks
Joel

Joel.

The is a three minute cool down period between triggers, If the detector is triggered before the alarm is armed then you will have to wait the three minutes before the trigger will transmit to set the alarm off, This may be what is stopping the alarm from sounding.

I suggest arming the system then leaving it 5 - 10 minutes before you attempt to trigger the alarm.
When you trigger the detector you should be able to see the green and red light flash inside the PIR followed by the siren sounding.

If you do not see the lights flash then i suggest removing the front cover of the Detector and triggering the anti tamper switch this will cause the siren to sound.

If the lights flash or you trigger the tamper and the alarm does not sound then I suggest following the learning a new detector sequence found in the manual.

Hi Mathew

What you described above didnt work. I actually didnt try what you said above.
I thought first i should change the battery in the PI detector & this has fixed the issue.

on a 2nd note is there any other Module or unit i can use with this existing alarm system so it works a SMS notification everytime the alarm goes off??

thanks

Joel,

The WatchGuard Home Alarm System - Series 2 does not support SMS notification. We do have additional units such as the http://www.rhinoco.com.au/product/TSMS which will allow for SMS notifications but the WGUARD unit does not have a output on alarm that can be used to trigger it.

If you are looking for an alarm with similar features as the WGUARD that allows for SMS notification then I suggest the http://www.rhinoco.com.au/product/WGSMS2010.

Hi Mathew

thanks for your reply..
WAtchguard SMS 2010 is definately a good buy for the price. However as described on the phone with you today i might hold off and see i can somehow get the current one to work. if no then i will look into purchasing the 2010 sms series.

Btw.. just to double confirm ..
to check the PIR operation>

i should have alarm un-armed. then stand infront of the detector > it should flash (red or green light??) if it doesnt flash any light then i should open the front cover > (it should flash red & green light?) if doesnt then means PIR is faulty? but if it does then i shuold clean the detector with Cotton but and re-learn the detector ?

Am i right on this?

Hi Mathew

Still doesnt work. Worked when it came back from you.
Tested today, Armed the system in the morning and came home home in the afternoon and it didnt work.

Have noticed that everytime i walk past it, both PIR gives me a red light for 1 sec and then nothing for 3 minutes, which according to the manual means it goes in IPS mode. but even if its not in IPS more. i arm the alarm then wait like 5 minutes and walk in, it just shows me the red light but doesnt trigger the alarm.

let me know if this means anything to u ?

Joel,

As discussed on the phone earlier it seems the detector is not learnt in under the correct mode, Performing a Factory Reset and re learning the detectors and remotes should resolve this issue.
